IT Infrastructure Specialist
Full-time, Part-time & Seasonal positions available in British Columbia
The Opportunity
We are seeking dynamic and dedicated IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our team.
The IT Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and
maintenance of an array of technology systems and infrastructure within the organization.
This position ensures the reliability, security, and efficiency of networking infrastructure, security
systems, environmental controls, embedded systems, and other technologies that support the
organization’s daily operations and strategic growth
Key Responsibilities:
Network Infrastructure
- Plan, design, document, and maintain network infrastructure systems, including cable management and conduit pathways.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of wired and wireless networking equipment and infrastructure.
- Evaluate and recommend new technology solutions to enhance infrastructure reliability and performance.
Security Systems
- Coordinate the installation and maintenance of security cameras, network video recorders, and related systems.
- Manage door access control systems, including keycards, biometric readers, software configurations, and user access policies and procedures.
- Ensure security systems meet the needs of, and are compliant with, organizational and regulatory requirements.
Environmental Monitoring & Control
- Design and implement solutions for temperature, humidity, and other environmental monitoring and control systems common to greenhouses.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with sensors, controllers, and other related environmental monitoring, control, and data collection systems.
Status Displays and Embedded Systems
- Manage and maintain digital signage, dashboards, and status displays for operational insights and communications.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the correct data and metrics are being displayed.
- Oversee embedded systems projects, including hardware & software integrations
Audio/Visual Support
- Design, install, configure, maintain, and support A/V and related equipment in conference rooms, meeting spaces, and event areas.
- Support, troubleshoot and resolve A/V issues to minimize downtime.
Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Engage with external vendors for project quotes, hardware procurement, and technical support.
- Work closely with internal teams to understand business needs, recommend solutions, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain accurate documentation of all infrastructure-related assets, configurations, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, local regulations, and company policies and procedures.
Continuous Improvement & Training
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices to optimize infrastructure and systems and maximize organizational benefits.
- Provide training, support, and other resources to internal teams.

Qualifications:
Education & Certifications
- Post-secondary diploma in Computer Science or 3+ years of relevant experience in a technology role providing end-user support.
- Industry-standard certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA) or equivalent networking credentials; additional certifications in security or low-voltage electrical installations are an asset.
Technical Skills
- Networking Fundamentals: Demonstrable experience with TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, wireless, fiber optics, routers, firewalls, etc.
- Security Systems: Experience installing and managing cameras, door access controls, and associated technologies.
- Embedded & IoT Technologies: Experience with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, PLCs, and similar solutions.
- Audiovisual & Digital Signage: Knowledge of A/V systems, data streaming solutions, and display implementations.
- Environmental Monitoring & Control: Familiarity with sensors, controllers, and related software.
- Hardware Installation: Proficiency in rack mounting, cable management, and other best practices.
- Scripting/Programming: Basic proficiency in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages

Working Conditions
- This position is primarily in an office environment, however, will require some travel and time spent at any of our various locations.
- Typical schedule is Monday to Friday, full-time, regular business hours.
- Flexibility for after-hours or Saturday work may be required for system upgrades, major maintenance, or emergency repair activities.
- Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy equipment (up to 50lbs).
- Comfortable working on ladders or in confined spaces for cable and equipment installation.
- Manual dexterity to handle small components, cables, and connectors.
- Follow all relevant safety protocols and procedures when working with or around electrical infrastructure and equipment, chemicals, or other equipment and resources common to a production and manufacturing environment such as loading docks, forklifts, general farm equipment, irrigation systems, etc.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
Reporting Structure:
- Meet with the Director of IT on a regular basis to share successes and challenges, set priorities, goals and objectives, and address other issues as necessary.
- Meet and collaborate with other IT team members and company staff to share knowledge, discuss issues, and otherwise work effectively as part of a team
Compensation
- Wage will be determined by your expertise and experience, with an initial wage of $25/hr.
